Filmhuis Den Haag en Kunstmuseum Den Haag presenteren samen London Calling: een filmprogramma dat aansluit op de gelijknamige tentoonstelling in het museum. Vijf zeer verschillende films tonen Londen als broedplaats voor kunst, muziek en subcultuur.

Queer Classics

Starting May 7

In May, Filmhuis Den Haag presents a Queer Classics retrospective in celebration of Pride The Hague. This programme brings together a selection of landmark films that have shaped queer cinema and continue to influence how queer stories and characters are represented on screen.

This Is (Not) Funny

May 2026

What can we laugh at, and who decides? 'This Is (Not) Funny' explores humour’s limits through four films, introduced by Dr. Kai Hebel and colleagues from Leiden University College The Hague. Funny, provocative and unsettling, they make us laugh and think.

Two Prosecutors - met Q&A

We zijn erg blij en vereerd Sergei Loznitsa opnieuw te mogen verwelkomen in Filmhuis Den Haag op 1 mei. Two Prosecutors is zijn langverwachte terugkeer naar fictie, maar zoals kenners van zijn werk weten, is Loznitsa’s fictie net zo ‘echt’ als elke documentaire. Na afloop van de film organiseren we een gesprek met Loznitsa, programmeur Marta Kornacka en het publiek.

4 en 5 mei

Op 4 en 5 mei staat Filmhuis Den Haag stil bij verzet, moed en de waarde van vrijheid. We vertonen drie bijzondere films die elk op hun manier deze thema’s belichten: de digitaal gerestaureerde 'Het meisje met het rode haar' (met de voorfilm 'Teken en zie de wereld'), 'De Man met de Glimlach' en Charlie Chaplins 'The Great Dictator'.

The festival is a collaboration between Las Américas Film Festival (LAFF) and Filmhuis Den Haag, born from a shared passion for cinema and a commitment to amplifying underrepresented voices. CinemAsia On Tour

Filmhuis Den Haag is very happy to once again welcome CinemAsia to our rooms and screens. After a successful edition of their main festival, they will be present in The Hague with four festival favourites, one Dutch premiere, and a wide array of introductions and other special programming.

Solomamma - Hoe lees ik een film?

Op 24 mei organiseren we een zeer speciale editie van Hoe lees ik een film? Voor één keer op een zondag en voor deze keer met een speciaal extra programma, want Lidewijde Paris presenteert haar boek genaamd... Hoe lees ik een film?! Na afloop van de film en Lidewijde's analyse verkoopt en signeert ze haar boek, in samenwerking met boekhandel De Vries van Stockum. Om dit te vieren biedt uitgeverij Meulenhoff alle bezoekers een gratis drankje aan.

Is this Bruce Lee?

Bruceploitation is a subgenre of films built on imitation, re-edits, and “Bruce Lee clones” such as Bruce Li and Bruce Le, blurring the line between homage and exploitation. After Bruce Lee became a global icon, cinema kept recycling his image, creating a strange mirror world where everything feels familiar but slightly off, where the question “Is this Bruce Lee?” always lingers underneath.

Mama'ku – Van Jakarta tot de Molukken

Regisseur en producent Sven Peetoom maakte vorig jaar grote indruk Tussen Wal en Schip, over de generationele werking van de Nederlands-Indische geschiedenis. We zijn heel blij dat Sven op 2 juni in het Filmhuis aanwezig is om over zijn nieuwe film te praten. Moderator is onze collega Dyonne van Haastert, die zich ook inzet voor Jong 1508.
