Based on the life of Somali runner Samia Yusuf Omar, the film follows her determination to compete in the Olympics despite poverty, war, and exile. As she trains against all odds, her journey becomes a powerful story of resilience and sacrifice. A moving portrait of a young woman who ran toward freedom, even when the world stood in her way.
The film will be introduced by Angélique Mbundu, founder of the iAfrica Film Festival, and Marlon Titre, director of Filmhuis Den Haag.
Gebaseerd op het leven van de Somalische atlete Samia Yusuf Omar toont de film haar vastberadenheid om ondanks armoede, oorlog en ballingschap de Olympische Spelen te bereiken. Terwijl ze traint tegen alle verwachtingen in, groeit haar verhaal uit tot een krachtig symbool van veerkracht en opoffering. Een aangrijpend portret van een jonge vrouw die bleef rennen richting vrijheid, zelfs wanneer alles haar tegenwerkte.
De film wordt ingeleid door Angélique Mbundu, organisator van het iAfrica Film Festival, en Marlon Titre, directeur-bestuurder van Filmhuis Den Haag.
