Four high school girls, three days of rehearsals and one punk anthem to make their school festival unforgettable.
With their high school festival just days away, three Japanese students must find a new singer after their band falls apart. They recruit Son, an exchange student from South Korea who barely speaks Japanese, and decide to perform songs by the Japanese punk band The Blue Hearts. As rehearsals bring the girls closer together, they navigate friendship, first love and the bittersweet final days of school.
Getting the Band Back Together
Music brings us together. Whether that’s from Amsterdam to The Hague, from one end of the Grote Marktstraat to the other, or in a high school bathroom, outside the closed doors of your favourite band’s concert, or at a barn with vampires lurking outside. That's why this November, Filmhuis Den Haag, Melkweg and PAARD are striking the same chord to present GETTING THE BAND BACK TOGETHER: a joint film programme celebrating bands in all shapes, sizes and genres.
