The Favourite + The Lobster Double Bill - The Legendary Lanthimos

In celebration of the release of Kinds of Kindness and the re-release of the critically acclaimed film Dogtooth, we are thrilled to present a special Double Bill screening featuring two of Yorgos Lanthimos' biggest titles: The Favourite and The Lobster.

The Favourite is set in the early 18th century, where a frail Queen Anne occupies the throne and her close friend Lady Sarah governs the country in her stead. Their dynamic shifts dramatically with the arrival of Abigail, a cunning new servant who seeks to regain her aristocratic status by manipulating the court. This darkly comedic film delves into themes of power, loyalty, and ambition amidst the opulence of the royal court.

The Lobster is a dystopian drama set in a society where single people are arrested and given 45 days to find a romantic partner, or else they are transformed into animals of their choice. David, a recently single man, checks into a mysterious hotel to undergo the process but soon decides to flee into the woods where he joins a group of rebels. The film explores themes of love, conformity, and the absurdity of societal expectations.
