Kneecap
Three Belfast rappers put the Irish language on the beat — and find themselves at war with the establishment.
In Belfast, two friends and a music teacher join forces to form Kneecap, a hip-hop trio that raps in Irish. As their provocative lyrics and unruly performances gain attention, the group becomes an unexpected symbol of a new generation determined to reclaim its language and identity. Based on the real-life rise of the band, this irreverent comedy-drama follows three musicians who turn their local scene upside down — and find themselves at the centre of a political storm.
Getting the Band Back Together
Music brings us together. Whether that’s from Amsterdam to The Hague, from one end of the Grote Marktstraat to the other, or in a high school bathroom, outside the closed doors of your favourite band’s concert, or at a barn with vampires lurking outside. That's why this November, Filmhuis Den Haag, Melkweg and PAARD are striking the same chord to present GETTING THE BAND BACK TOGETHER: a joint film programme celebrating bands in all shapes, sizes and genres.
