Zeven animatiefilms die de thema’s van Keti Koti op indringende en verbeeldingsrijke wijze tot leven brengen.
Voor het Keti Koti Curates-programma selecteerde Kaboom Animation Festival een krachtige en veelzijdige reeks korte animatiefilms die elk op hun eigen manier het thema van Keti Koti raken en verbeelden.
De zeven films variëren in stijl, toon en perspectief — van poëtische herinneringen tot rauwe confrontaties, van intieme persoonlijke verhalen tot symbolische en politieke reflecties. Samen vormen ze een caleidoscopisch portret van identiteit, koloniale erfenis, schoonheid, verzet en bevrijding.
Animatie blijkt hierin een expressieve en grensverleggende vorm om het slavernijverleden, de doorwerking daarvan en de toekomst van vrijheid op visuele en emotionele wijze te onderzoeken.

For the Keti Koti Curates program, Kaboom Animation Festival curated a powerful and diverse selection of short animated films, each offering a unique perspective on the themes of Keti Koti.
The seven films vary in style, tone, and viewpoint — from poetic memories to raw confrontations, from intimate personal narratives to symbolic and political reflections. Together, they form a kaleidoscopic portrait of identity, colonial legacy, beauty, resistance, and liberation.
Animation here proves to be an expressive and boundary-pushing medium to explore the legacy of slavery, its ongoing impact, and the future of freedom in both visual and emotional ways.

Kaboom Animation Festival is hét toonaangevende animatiefestival van Nederland, ontstaan in 2019 uit de fusie van KLIK en HAFF. Het festival viert animatie in al haar vormen: van artistiek en experimenteel tot mainstream en familiegericht.
