Almost Famous
A teenage music journalist hits the road with Stillwater and discovers that getting close to rock stars is more complicated than it seems.
In the early 1970s, 15-year-old William Miller gets the assignment of a lifetime: touring with rising rock band Stillwater for Rolling Stone magazine. As he travels with the musicians and gets close to their devoted groupies, he discovers that life on the road is far less glamorous than it looks from the audience. Caught between his journalistic ambitions and his growing affection for the band, William gets an intimate look at the highs and lows of rock 'n' roll.
Getting the Band Back Together
Music brings us together. Whether that’s from Amsterdam to The Hague, from one end of the Grote Marktstraat to the other, or in a high school bathroom, outside the closed doors of your favourite band’s concert, or at a barn with vampires lurking outside. That's why this November, Filmhuis Den Haag, Melkweg and PAARD are striking the same chord to present GETTING THE BAND BACK TOGETHER: a joint film programme celebrating bands in all shapes, sizes and genres.
