Our programmer Thomas about Nostalgia Ultra
"As an extension of our Rooftoppers Open-Air Cinema, we are showcasing three films in September during "Nostalgia Ultra," each evoking nostalgia in its own unique way, just like the Rooftoppers films. These are films that might stir nostalgia because you’ve seen them many times before or because they remind you of a time you feel nostalgic for. With "Nostalgia Ultra," we are temporarily bringing three older titles back to the big screen, so don’t miss this chance to (re)experience these nostalgic films in cinema!
We kick off on Fridays at Filmhuis with "The Iron Giant," an animated classic that played a significant role in many '90s kids' first encounters with film. The film "Clockwatchers," featuring Lisa Kudrow and Toni Collette, takes us back to the office life of the '90s—a film where the typical '90s fashion and office shenanigans will be a delightful trip down memory lane. Finally, we’re screening "Poetic Justice," a film deeply connected to the growing representation and recognition of Black stories in the film industry during the early '90s. In addition, "Poetic Justice" offers a fantastic soundtrack and visuals that make us nostalgic for the fashion and hip-hop culture of the '90s, featuring a young Tupac and Janet Jackson in the lead roles."
