What began as a documentary about Negrica, the director's mother, evolved into an intimate docu-fiction portrait of a family grappling with remembrance and loss. Returning home to mark his grandmother’s birthday, Đorđević reconnects with the familiar rhythms of his childhood and struggles with his inability to fully embrace the spirituality his mother embodied. The film balances loss with subtle, self-reflective humour, capturing the tender presence of his mother while expanding into a broader meditation on love, connection, and the passage of time. Through delicate camera work and a restrained yet rich cinematic language, Đorđević traces a quiet journey of mourning and resilience, observing the ties that bind people to one another and to the world around them.
Wat begon als een documentaire over Negrica, de moeder van de regisseur, ontwikkelde zich tot een intiem docu-fictieportret van een familie die worstelt met herinnering en verlies. Terugkeer naar huis om de verjaardag van zijn grootmoeder te vieren, brengt Đorđević weer in contact met de vertrouwde ritmes van zijn jeugd en worstelt hij met zijn onvermogen om de spiritualiteit die zijn moeder belichaamde volledig te omarmen. De film balanceert verlies met subtiele, zelfreflecterende humor, vangt de tedere aanwezigheid van zijn moeder en breidt zich uit tot een bredere meditatie over liefde, verbondenheid en het verstrijken van de tijd. Via verfijnde cameravoering en een ingetogen maar rijke filmtaal volgt Đorđević een stille reis van rouw en veerkracht, waarbij hij de banden observeert die mensen met elkaar en met de wereld om hen heen verbinden.
