A poignant reflection on faded dreams, lost youth, and the bittersweet rhythm of moving on.
The Waikiki Brothers are a struggling dance band, drifting from one low-paying gig to the next. When they end up in the lead singer’s hometown—once a thriving resort but now faded—they’re confronted with the ghosts of the past and the reality of their uncertain future. As personal tensions rise and old memories resurface, the group must navigate the crossroads between youthful dreams and adult disillusionment. Set against the backdrop of a decaying town, the film quietly explores friendship, failure, and the pull of nostalgia.
De Waikiki Brothers zijn een band die van het ene slechtbetaalde optreden naar het andere trekt. Wanneer ze terechtkomen in de geboortestad van de zanger — ooit een bruisend kuuroord, nu vervallen — worden ze geconfronteerd met oude herinneringen en een onzekere toekomst. Terwijl persoonlijke spanningen oplopen en het verleden zich aandient, staat de groep op een kruispunt tussen jeugddromen en volwassen desillusie. Tegen de achtergrond van een in verval geraakte stad verkent de film op stille wijze thema’s als vriendschap, mislukking en nostalgie.
