In late 1980s Mexico, eight-year-old Roberta watches her family of seven women fight to save their home from mounting debt, a struggle that reshapes how she sees herself and those around her.
In late 1980s Mexico, three generations of strong-willed women live together and fight to save their home from foreclosure. Roberta, an 8-year-old girl, grows up confidently in this unusual community: a fatherless home, where she observes with growing curiosity all these female personalities, like so many images of a possible future.
The young protagonist oscillates between reality and her vivid imagination, exploring her home and its surroundings in an effort to find a way to save her family from eviction, but above all to seek answers to the existential questions associated with her age. Most often, it is the way others view her unique life that makes her question herself...

In het Mexico van de late jaren 1980 leven drie generaties wilskrachtige vrouwen samen en vechten ze om hun huis te redden van executie. Roberta, een 8-jarig meisje, groeit vol vertrouwen op in deze bijzondere gemeenschap: een vaderloos huishouden, waarin ze met toenemende nieuwsgierigheid al deze vrouwelijke persoonlijkheden observeert, als zoveel beelden van een mogelijke toekomst.
De jonge protagonist balanceert tussen realiteit en haar levendige verbeelding, terwijl ze haar huis en de omgeving verkent in een poging een manier te vinden om haar familie voor uitzetting te behoeden, maar bovenal om antwoorden te zoeken op de existentiële vragen die bij haar leeftijd horen. Vaak is het vooral de manier waarop anderen naar haar unieke leven kijken die haar aan zichzelf doet twijfelen.
Een verfijnd feministisch en vrouwelijk coming-of-ageverhaal, turbulent en vreugdevol, waarin mannen op een subtiele manier aan de randen van het leven van de vrouwen aanwezig zijn.
