In the small Texas town of Virgil, preparations are underway for a celebration marking the state's sesquicentennial. As an inquisitive visitor explores the town, he encounters an eccentric cast of residents whose everyday lives reveal unexpected dreams, obsessions and quirks. Their interconnected stories paint a portrait of suburban America where the ordinary and the surreal coexist. Music becomes a natural extension of the community's unique spirit.
