An FBI trainee must enter the mind of a notorious killer to catch another before time runs out.
FBI trainee Clarice Starling is assigned to interview the brilliant but incarcerated psychiatrist and serial killer Dr. Hannibal Lecter. The FBI hopes that Lecter's insight into the criminal mind can help Clarice track down Buffalo Bill, a dangerous murderer who is still at large. As their conversations become increasingly personal, Lecter challenges Clarice to confront painful memories from her own past. In exchange for information, she must navigate his psychological games while racing to stop Buffalo Bill before he claims another victim.
FBI trainee Clarice Starling krijgt de opdracht om de briljante maar gevangengenomen psychiater en seriemoordenaar Dr. Hannibal Lecter te interviewen. De FBI hoopt dat Lecters inzicht in de criminele geest Clarice kan helpen bij het opsporen van Buffalo Bill, een gevaarlijke moordenaar die nog altijd vrij rondloopt. Terwijl hun gesprekken steeds persoonlijker worden, daagt Lecter Clarice uit om pijnlijke herinneringen uit haar eigen verleden onder ogen te zien. In ruil voor informatie moet ze zijn psychologische spelletjes doorstaan, terwijl ze probeert Buffalo Bill te stoppen voordat hij opnieuw toeslaat.
