Set in early 1980s Manhattan, this film follows two young women, Alice and Charlotte, navigating the glamorous yet shallow world of disco clubs and romantic entanglements. As they dance, flirt, and forge friendships, they grapple with ambition, desire, and the fleeting nature of youth. The story examines the collision of personal ideals with social realities, often with witty, ironic humor. It’s a portrait of a generation caught between freedom and uncertainty.
Het verhaal speelt zich af in het Manhattan van de vroege jaren ’80 en volgt twee jonge vrouwen, Alice en Charlotte, die zich een weg banen door de glanzende maar oppervlakkige disco-wereld en romantische verwikkelingen. Terwijl ze dansen, flirten en vriendschappen sluiten, worstelen ze met ambitie, verlangen en de vergankelijkheid van hun jeugd. De film onderzoekt de botsing tussen persoonlijke idealen en sociale realiteit, vaak met scherpe, ironische humor. Het is een portret van een generatie gevangen tussen vrijheid en onzekerheid.
