A sensory journey through the Cévennes where humans and nature unite in a shared struggle against the forces of the present.
In her first feature-length documentary, Elsa Brès explores the tales and collective struggles that irrigate the Cévennes landscape, continuing a reflection begun in her installations and previous films. Devoid of dialogue and giving room for a sensory experience, the film centres on the lush vegetation and the bodies that live there, weaving a narrative where humans and animals join together to combat capitalism and patriarchy. By opening breaches in time, possible continuities take shape between the struggles of yesterday and those of today, inviting viewers to imagine other ways of inhabiting the world.
In haar eerste lange documentaire onderzoekt Elsa Brès de verhalen en collectieve strijd die het landschap van de Cévennes doordrenken, en zet daarmee een reflectie voort die al in haar installaties en eerdere films begon. Vrij van dialoog en gericht op een zintuiglijke ervaring, staat de film stil bij de weelderige vegetatie en de lichamen die daar leven, en weeft hij een narratief waarin mensen en dieren samenkomen om zich te verzetten tegen kapitalisme en patriarchaat. Door breuken in de tijd te openen, ontstaan mogelijke verbindingen tussen de strijd van vroeger en die van vandaag, en worden kijkers uitgenodigd om andere manieren van leven in de wereld te verbeelden.

Rewire is an annual international festival for adventurous music. Across four days from 9 to 12 April 2026, Rewire will return to The Hague with its 15th anniversary festival edition, bringing together a wide range of musical and interdisciplinary performances, specially commissioned works, club nights, installations, talks, screenings, and of course, films.
