Powwow People is a vérité-style documentary grounded in the rhythms, relationships, and lived experience of a contemporary Native gathering. Structured around the arc of a single day, the film follows four central figures: Gina Bluebird, who frames the powwow’s shape; Ruben Littlehead, the MC whose presence anchors the present moment; Jamie John, who imagines the future of these traditions; and Freddie Cozad, a singer and drummer who considers the past. It is both a reflection of a beloved and complicated community and a gesture towards the continuities of Native life.
Powwow People is een documentaire in vérité-stijl, geworteld in de ritmes, relaties en geleefde ervaring van een hedendaagse Native bijeenkomst. De film is opgebouwd rond het verloop van één dag en volgt vier centrale figuren: Gina Bluebird, die de vorm van de powwow kadert; Ruben Littlehead, de MC wiens aanwezigheid het huidige moment verankert; Jamie John, die de toekomst van deze tradities verbeeldt; en Freddie Cozad, een zanger en drummer die reflecteert op het verleden. Het is zowel een weerspiegeling van een geliefde maar complexe gemeenschap als een gebaar naar de continuïteit van het leven van Native gemeenschappen.

Rewire is an annual international festival for adventurous music. Across four days from 9 to 12 April 2026, Rewire will return to The Hague with its 15th anniversary festival edition, bringing together a wide range of musical and interdisciplinary performances, specially commissioned works, club nights, installations, talks, screenings, and of course, films.
