Achttien bepalende maanden in het leven van John Lennon en Yoko Ono in het begin van de jaren ’70 vormen de basis voor het intieme portret van Oscarwinnend regisseur Kevin Macdonald. Een uniek tijdsbeeld van een roerige periode, waarin een van de meest iconische koppels van de 20e eeuw zich vestigt in een flatje in Greenwich Village, New York. John en Yoko traden daar samen op, waarbij ook Yoko Ono met Age 39 en het intense Don’t worry Kyoko ruimte krijgt voor haar eigen stem, als gelijke naast John Lennon. Voor Lennon was het zijn enige avondvullende show na zijn vertrek uit The Beatles. Eighteen decisive months in the lives of John Lennon and Yoko Ono in the early 1970s form the basis for Oscar-winning director Kevin Macdonald's intimate portrait. A unique snapshot of a turbulent period, in which one of the most iconic couples of the 20th century settles in a flat in Greenwich Village, New York. They immerse themselves in American television: from Vietnam coverage and The Price is Right to Nixon, Coca-Cola and The Waltons, searching for Ono's lost daughter Kyoko and undergoing a transformation in the US. A TV item about Willowbrook State School - for children with intellectual disabilities - ultimately leads to the historic One to One benefit concert at Madison Square Garden. John and Yoko performed there together, with Yoko Ono also given space for her own voice with Age 39 and the intense Don't worry Kyoko, as John Lennon's equal. For Lennon, it was his only full-length show after leaving The Beatles. One to One: John & Yoko contains never-before-seen material, including home movies, lots of music and countless recordings of John and Yoko's telephone conversations.
