Slot #1 of this year's New Talents Competition.
The New Talents Competition returns for its sixth edition, featuring eight bold debut and second films from Eastern and Southern Europe. These filmmakers explore identity, memory, and community with curiosity and sensitivity, offering fresh perspectives and daring visions of the world.
New Talents Competition Slot #1 consists of the following films:
WHAT DOES THE MUD WHISPER (by Dea Tcholokava, 2025, Georgia): A five-year-old patiently waits at a Georgian mud-healing centre, discovering quiet moments of wonder and connection.
SCALES (by Anna Scherbyna, 2024, Ukraine): An experimental auto-fiction exploring the fragile interplay of trauma, memory, and desire in a young woman’s life.
STONE OF DESTINY (by Julie Černá, 2025, Czechia): An animated musical celebrating the courage to find your own path, even amid uncertainty.
DANCE WITH ME, DAD (by Małgorzata Goździk, 2025, Poland): A daughter reconnects with her father through the camera, bravely navigating past and present conflicts with intimacy.
The screening will be followed by Q&A with the directors Anna Scherbyna and Dea Tcholokava.
De New Talents Competition keert terug voor zijn zesde editie, met acht gedurfde debuut- en tweede films uit Oost- en Zuid-Europa. Deze filmmakers verkennen identiteit, herinnering en gemeenschap met nieuwsgierigheid en gevoeligheid, en bieden frisse perspectieven en gedurfde visies op de wereld.
New Talents Competition Slot #1 bestaat uit de volgende films:
WHAT DOES THE MUD WHISPER (Dea Tcholokava, 2025, Georgië): Een vijfjarig meisje wacht geduldig in een Georgisch modderhelingscentrum en ontdekt stille momenten van verwondering en verbinding.
SCALES (Anna Scherbyna, 2024, Oekraïne): Een experimentele auto-fictie die het kwetsbare samenspel van trauma, herinnering en verlangen in het leven van een jonge vrouw onderzoekt.
STONE OF DESTINY (Julie Černá, 2025, Tsjechië): Een animatiemuzical die de moed viert om je eigen pad te vinden, zelfs in tijden van onzekerheid.
DANCE WITH ME, DAD (Małgorzata Goździk, 2025, Polen): Een dochter legt via de camera opnieuw contact met haar vader en navigeert moedig door conflicten uit verleden en heden, met intimiteit als kompas.
De vertoning wordt gevolgd door een Q&A met de regisseurs Anna Scherbyna en Dea Tcholokava.
