Midsommar - Gather Round Folks
A Swedish midsummer festival takes a sinister turn when a group of American visitors becomes entangled in the rituals of a secluded community.
After a devastating family tragedy, Dani travels to Sweden with her boyfriend Christian and his friends for a midsummer celebration in a remote rural community. What begins as a picturesque festival quickly becomes increasingly unsettling as the visitors witness the community’s unusual customs. While Dani becomes more deeply involved with the villagers, tensions grow within the group. As the celebrations progress, the friends discover that they may not be free to leave.
On October 5, Midsommar will be introduced by Arjan Sterken, a religious studies scholar at Radboud University specialising in mythology and folklore. The introduction will be given in English.
Na een ingrijpende familietragedie reist Dani met haar vriend Christian en zijn vrienden naar Zweden voor een midzomerfeest in een afgelegen gemeenschap. Wat begint als een idyllisch festival wordt steeds verontrustender wanneer de bezoekers kennismaken met de vreemde gebruiken van de gemeenschap. Terwijl Dani steeds meer betrokken raakt bij de bewoners, lopen de spanningen binnen de groep op. Naarmate het feest vordert, ontdekken de vrienden dat ze misschien niet zomaar kunnen vertrekken.
