A visual journey through hip-hop's golden era, "It Was All a Dream" captures the essence of a cultural revolution through the lens of Dream Hampton's intimate archive.
'It Was All a Dream' is gebaseerd op het persoonlijke archief van regisseur Dream Hampton en vormt een visuele memoire die het begin van het gouden tijdperk van hiphop weerspiegelt. De documentaire neemt de kijkers mee achter de schermen in de studio en biedt een intieme blik op enkele van de meest iconische figuren uit de rapwereld, zoals Hampton's buurman The Notorious B.I.G., Wu-Tang's Method Man, Mobb Deep, Snoop Dogg en anderen. Met beelden uit haar eerdere werk vertelt Hampton niet alleen het verhaal van deze periode in de hiphop, maar benadrukt ze ook haar eigen rol binnen dit culturele tijdperk.
Na de film zal Dream Hampton aanwezig zijn voor een speciale Q&A, gemodereerd door Noleca Radway.
'It Was All a Dream' is based on the personal archive of director Dream Hampton and serves as a visual memoir reflecting on the dawn of hip-hop's golden era. The documentary takes viewers behind the scenes in the studio, offering an intimate look at some of the most iconic figures in rap, including Hampton's neighbor The Notorious B.I.G., Wu-Tang's Method Man, Mobb Deep, Snoop Dogg, and more. Through footage from her previous work, Hampton not only tells the story of this pivotal period in hip-hop but also firmly establishes her own place within this cultural narrative.
After the film, Dream Hampton will be present for a special Q&A, moderated by Noleca Radway.
