In 1944, young Suzu is sent to Kure to marry, finding hope and beauty in daily life amid the devastation of World War II.
In 1944, young Suzu is sent from her quiet life in Hiroshima to Kure, a port city in Japan, to marry Shusaku. As she adjusts to her new family and daily life, her world becomes increasingly overshadowed by the devastation of World War II. Despite hunger, bombings, and loss, Suzu strives to find beauty and hope in small everyday moments, through her art, and in the human warmth around her.
De jonge Suzu wordt in 1944 uit haar rustige leven in Hiroshima naar Kure, een havenstad in Japan, gestuurd om te trouwen met Shusaku. Terwijl ze zich aanpast aan haar nieuwe familie en het dagelijks leven, wordt haar wereld steeds meer overschaduwd door de verwoestingen van de Tweede Wereldoorlog. Ondanks honger, bombardementen en verlies, probeert Suzu schoonheid en hoop te vinden in kleine dagelijkse momenten, haar kunst en de menselijke warmte om haar heen.
