Déni travels to Georgia to see the land for himself. The area is home to many Chechens—including his mother’s relatives—who, like her, once fled the war. The close-knit community, which immediately embraces him with warmth, shows him what a life there might look like. At the same time, the question everyone wants to ask him lingers in the background: when will Déni finally get married?
Through stunning visuals and a subtle narrative style, we follow his quest to discover his roots, his family, and himself—a journey where the silences in conversations often speak volumes. Pitsaev skillfully and intelligently weaves together universal themes such as stifling gender roles, the indelible scars of war, and the endless search for where one truly belongs.
