In ancient Rome, the young Encolpius embarks on a fragmented journey through a world of decadence, desire and spectacle. Searching for his elusive companion Giton, he drifts between lavish feasts, strange rituals and encounters with unforgettable characters. Reality and fantasy constantly blur as each episode unfolds like a dream. The voyage becomes an exploration of pleasure, identity and mortality.
In het oude Rome maakt de jonge Encolpius een grillige reis door een wereld vol decadentie, verlangen en spektakel. Op zoek naar zijn ongrijpbare metgezel Giton belandt hij tussen uitbundige banketten, vreemde rituelen en onvergetelijke figuren. Werkelijkheid en fantasie vloeien voortdurend in elkaar over terwijl de episodes zich als een droom ontvouwen. De reis wordt een verkenning van genot, identiteit en sterfelijkheid.
