One unexpected day at work forces a frustrated convenience-store clerk to confront his life, relationships and future.
Dante Hicks reluctantly comes in on his day off to work at a small convenience store in New Jersey. Throughout the day, he is confronted with difficult customers, unexpected conversations and the complications of his romantic life. His best friend Randal, who works at the neighbouring video store, provides little help and plenty of chaos. As the hours pass, Dante is forced to confront his dissatisfaction with the life he has settled into and the choices that brought him there.
Dante Hicks wordt met tegenzin opgeroepen om op zijn vrije dag te werken in een kleine supermarkt in New Jersey. Gedurende de dag krijgt hij te maken met lastige klanten, onverwachte gesprekken en de complicaties van zijn liefdesleven. Zijn beste vriend Randal, die in de videotheek naast hem werkt, biedt weinig hulp en zorgt vooral voor extra chaos. Terwijl de uren verstrijken, wordt Dante gedwongen na te denken over zijn ontevredenheid met het leven dat hij leidt en de keuzes die hem daar hebben gebracht.
