Along with THE DRAGON LIVES AGAIN, BRUCE LEE VS. SUPERMAN is easily one of the most synapse-frying entries in the magical subgenre known as Bruceploitation. Triad gangsters call Superman out of retirement to kidnap a scientist who solved the global food shortage crisis. Superman agrees to the deal in exchange for "money, plenty of girls, and booze." The authorities enlist Kato (Bruce Li), the Green Hornet's partner, to help. Kato hires his friend Carter (also Bruce Li), who looks, dresses, acts, and wields nunchucks just like Bruce Lee. The result is total madness. A fascinating time capsule from the golden era of gonzo exploitation filmmaking, BRUCE LEE VS. SUPERMAN has been preserved from the only known 35mm print in existence.

Bruceploitation is a subgenre of films built on imitation, re-edits, and “Bruce Lee clones” like Bruce Li and Bruce Le, endlessly blurring the line between homage and exploitation. After Bruce Lee became a global icon, cinema kept recycling his image, creating a strange mirror world where everything feels familiar but slightly off, and the question “IS THIS BRUCE LEE?” always lingers just beneath the surface.
