Caught between oppressive bureaucracy and vivid daydreams, an ordinary clerk begins questioning the machinery of the world around him.
Sam Lowry is a low-ranking government employee living in a sprawling bureaucratic society dominated by paperwork and surveillance. After an administrative mistake leads to the arrest of an innocent man, he becomes determined to uncover the truth. His search brings him into contact with Jill, a woman who challenges his carefully ordered world. As reality grows increasingly absurd, Sam retreats into elaborate fantasies of escape.
Sam Lowry is een laaggeplaatste ambtenaar in een uitgestrekte bureaucratische samenleving die wordt beheerst door papierwerk en toezicht.
