Me, Myself, and My Ghostly Being: CinemAsia x Berlin NewGen Chinese Korte Films Programma bestaat uit de volgende shorts:
CinemAsia is once again collaborating with the Berlin NewGen Film Festival to share four stories about ghostly apparitions. From a wacky Hong Kong ghost film to magically realistic coming-of-age dramas, each film describes a phantasmagorical adventure of encountering your own ghostly being: some are "real" ghosts, while others are metaphorical ghosts of memories and traumas that have long been repressed.
Me, Myself, and My Ghostly Being: CinemAsia x Berlin NewGen Chinese Short Films Programme consists of the following shorts:
The Kowloon Emperor (Willis WONG Man-chak, Hong Kong): When the Kowloon Emperor, Tsang Man-choi, visits the Community Improvement Bureau, he warns that their redevelopment plan for the To Kwa Wan district will release an old vengeful spirit. A young employee of the Bureau reluctantly agrees to join Tsang on an adventure full of ghost hunting, fantasy and martial arts. 29 minutes.
Hourglass House (HU Yinghai, China): A little boy wants to go on an adventure in the desert, but his mother cannot leave the family behind. Meanwhile, sand continuously flows into the house, burying the boy's family. Then he realises this is an irreversible hourglass of time ... 21 minutes.
A Roadside Banquet (PENG Peiqi, China and US): An 11-year-old Chinese girl turns into a feather duster at her little brother's first birthday party. Right after she realises that her parents have always only wanted a boy. 16 minutes.
Rest in Peace (CAI Kunyu, China): When craftsman Dummy hears about his impending death, he desires a traditional burial in the ground, which conflicts with funeral reforms in China that promote cremation. His friend Roach helps him in his quest, but this leads them to unexpected problems ... 28 minutes.
