THE CHOICE IS YOURS follows the remarkable journey of Dres, rapper and artist from the iconic '90s hip-hop duo Black Sheep. From the heights of the music industry to the struggles of everyday life, Dres is determined to seize one last chance at success. Along the way, he uncovers the legacy of legendary producer J. Dilla and attempts to unravel the mysterious, still incomplete story behind him.
After the screening, we’re proud to welcome Andres “Dres” Vargas, member of the legendary Black Sheep, to the stage for an in-depth Q&A session, moderated by Arjun Chada.
THE CHOICE IS YOURS volgt de unieke reis van Dres, rapper en kunstenaar uit het iconische hiphopduo Black Sheep van de jaren '90. Van de top van de muziekindustrie tot de worstelingen van het dagelijks leven, zet Dres alles op alles om een laatste kans op succes te grijpen. Onderweg komt hij de legendarische producer J. Dilla op het spoor en probeert hij diens mysterieuze, nog onvolledig vertelde verhaal te ontrafelen.
Na afloop zal er een Q&A plaatsvinden met Black Sheep Rapper Andres "Dres" Vargas. Moderatie is in handen van Arjun Chada.

Black Soil was founded in 2004 as Europe’s first hip-hop film festival. Since then, it has broadened its focus to celebrate Black culture more widely, showcasing a diverse selection of films from the African diaspora—the foundation of the emerging Black European art movement NOW!
The festival offers a dynamic range of films, from stories deeply rooted in Black culture to films that explore and celebrate this heritage. Across three locations in Rotterdam, The Hague, and Amsterdam, we present the very best of independent Black cinema, music, and talks.
