Briljante zwarte komedie kraakt in de verpakking van een stadse roadmovie de uitwassen van het neoliberalisme.
Zo'n zestien uur per dag zit productieassistente Angela, oververmoeid en vloekend, achter het stuur van het busje waarmee ze het verkeersinfarct genaamd Boekarest te lijf gaat. Op de dag dat we haar volgen rijdt ze van hot naar her om 'audities' af te nemen van slachtoffers van bedrijfsongevallen. De uitverkorene mag tegen betaling figureren in een veiligheidsfilm.
Angela's martelgang is de (in korrelig zwartwit gedraaide) rode draad die geregeld wordt doorsneden met scènes uit een Roemeense kleurenfilm uit 1981. Over een vrouwelijke taxichauffeur in datzelfde Boekarest, wier lotgevallen frappant parallel lopen met die van de productieassistente. En dan zijn er nog de TikTok-filmpjes waarin Angela, met behulp van een face filter, de rol aanneemt van de grofgebekte, seksistische Bobita.

Some 16 hours a day, production assistant Angela sits, overtired and swearing, behind the wheel of the van she uses to tackle the traffic jam called Bucharest. On the day we follow her, she drives from place to place to ‘audition’ victims of industrial accidents. The chosen one gets to feature in a safety film for a fee.
Angela's torture is the thread (shot in grainy black and white) that is regularly interspersed with scenes from a Romanian colour film from 1981. About a female taxi driver in that same Bucharest, whose fortunes strikingly parallel those of the production assistant. And then there are the TikTok films in which Angela, with the help of a face filter, assumes the role of the coarse-mouthed, sexist Bobita.

Ze waren te zien op prominente festivals in binnen- en buitenland, maar een uitbreng in de Nederlandse bioscoop leek er niet meer in te zitten. Ten onrechte, meent Eye dat, deels in samenwerking met Cinéart en Park Circus, tien opmerkelijke films uit het internationale circuit een zomerse release geeft.
