wysiwyg invites Home Cinema: Glued & Screwed edition 6: Fall - Float - Land - Repeat
For this sixth edition of Glued & Screwed, the first one of the year 2023, wysiwyg has invited their friends from Home Cinema to curate a unique short film programme. Titled ‘Fall - Float - Land - Repeat’, the programme focuses on the inconclusive character of dreams, the never-ending search for a finale that evaporates as soon as we open our eyes. An overarching narrative through the four video works presents beginnings that become endings, and endings that become beginnings. You are invited to fall, land, time-travel and restart.
Pude ver un Puma (2011) - Eduardo Williams
The accident takes a group of teenagers from the top of the roofs of their neighbourhood, through its destruction, to the depths of the earth.
Deeply Madly (2022) - Helen Anna Flanagan
Burdened by an irrational fear of being pushed onto the metro tracks, a woman muses on what it is to fall. To fall flat, heavily in love, deep into sleep, or into a holiday pool that time on a faraway Greek Island at 2am. Waves keep crashing, summoning Deeply, Madly as an obsession with moments of being mid-motion — bodies, emotions and time that all succumb to gravitational forces — from the lovesick, to the slapstick, to the macabre.
Standing in the Sun (2019) - Viktor Naumovski
Standing in the Sun is a coming of age story that focusses on a group of boys living in suburban Skopje, Macedonia. Inspired by the emotional experience of growing up in a country in transition, Viktor Naumovski explores both the group itself as well as the nation’s state of transition through the boys’ perspective; where masculinity and national pride are highly celebrated and appreciated. The film is made with the director’s childhood friends and family as participants in all stages of production, exploring the relations between him as a director and them as outsiders of the art world.
Southern Bypass: 5.49-6am (2022) - Christopher tym
Southern Bypass is a road at the south of Nairobi in Kenya that leads into the heart of the city; This single take shot was filmed at 5.49am to 6am heading into the direction of the sunrise. The motorbike rider is a boda boda, a motorcycle taxi service. The rider is anonymous, a local to Nairobi but it t is not about where they are going nor where they have come from, it is about the constant motion and movement; they are still and the world around them moves.
