wysiwyg presents: Glued & Screwed edition 10: Wash-Rinse-Repeat
The smell of aromatic laundry detergent fills your nostrils as you wiggle your head through the collar of a freshly tumble dried t-shirt, which is still warm to the touch. The machine responsible for this consoling experience tumbles at a pace that makes you want to move. Listen to how accomplished it is at producing repetitive waves of sound that transport you to other realms. Its repetition becomes a physical experience. A sensation so physical, so real, that it becomes as tangible as the fabric of the shirt, or as heavy as the weight of the machine. Perhaps repetition reminds us of our time within in the womb, where our mother’s heart beats a repetitively assuring drum for nine months straight. The rave of a lifetime.
This tenth edition of Glued & Screwed—the last one before a short stop during the summer—centers around the hypnotic qualities of repetition and our physical response to them. A program without dialogue, that instead communicates through sound and vision.

Ditch jumping re-enactment (2019) - Bernice Nauta
From her research, Bernice Nauta concludes that she would prefer to be her own stunt double, instead of using the Hollywoodesque, “star-factory, identity-commodifying methodology” of hiring a stunt double to perform the dirty and risky jobs of life. Nauta dissolves her identity into an actor who plays her part, allowing her to explore the self from the role of her own stunt double, falling into a parallel reality. She re-enacts memories and scenes from everyday life that can be classified as stunts: moments involving fear, danger, and risk.
Ditch jumping re-enactment is one out of four short films as part of a bigger project called ‘Cast Non Appearance’.
Sally (2005) - Luna Maurer & Roel Wouters
They move from left to right, from front to back and suddenly begin to jump, to the wall on the right, to the ceiling and back down again as if they are dancing. Are we looking up, or down, is this really a room at all and if so, where is it?
Crops (2012) - Gerko de Ruijter
Thousands of circles are cut from Google Earth and made a experimental video collage about irrigation in the United States. Sprayers rotate around a central axis and irrigate round fields of green crops and desert areas.
Play within a play (2013) - Yasmijn Karhof
The film ‘Play within a play’ is a triptych which visualizes the intense experience of intimate and ephemeral moments. Simple details appear as natural phenomena which engage the viewer and give an experience of the universal sensation of beauty.
HAPPY DOOM (2023) - Billy Roisz
HAPPY DOOM is an audiovisual poem, an ode to color intoxication and vertigo. The screen a vibrating membrane that simultaneously spits and swallows colors and noisy beats - a hypnotic
deformed circumpolar psychedelic short trip.
A Thing Among Things (2015) - Giovanni Giaretta
The video combines the recollection of visual memories of a blind person with close-ups of transparent minerals. The images work almost as a scenography open to different interpretations: as if to see something presumed to be something else.

De tiende editie van Glued & Screwed - de laatste voor een kleine stop in de zomer - draait om de hypnotische eigenschappen van herhaling en onze fysieke reactie daarop. Een programma zonder dialoog, dat communiceert via geluid en visie.
